Sustainable Underlay
Sustainable Underlay's main benefit to the consumer is lumps are eliminated as they do not use consumer waste that often contains lumps, known as 'fingernails' in the industry. Moreover, there is a huge sustainability story behind the products.
The Springbond® from Texfelt is made from 85% old plastic bottles, saving them from polluting our oceans and food chain. These are chipped before being made into PET pellets, then extruded into bales ready to be cut into new SpringBond® carpet underlay. Texfelt is on a mission to combat the eight million tonnes of plastic filling our oceans yearly while improving household air pollution.
Footfall manufactures the Life Long range of PU underlays. These are manufactured from sustainable PU logs that repurpose consumer waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill. These logs take the foam from old mattresses, granulate, and steam sterilise it before adding it to the TDI binder. These are then pealed and laminated, producing a sustainable lump-free underlay.
